The Full Course
Learning to paraglide is an absolutely amazing experience. In the months and years after learning and flying with Bozeman Paragliding, you will know what it's like to fly up to the clouds, cross vast distances over mountainous terrain or enjoy a simple sunset flight overlooking a valley.

The day will come when your flying buddy is on the opposite side of your thermal, cranking circles towards cloudbase with you. You'll both be laughing, and you'll both know why learning to fly was one of the best moves you ever made.

Important: Bozeman Paragliding is very experienced in mountain flying and micro-meteorology. It is important to choose a school that will not only teach you how to ridge-soar on a smooth hill in smooth wind, but one that will also teach you what it means to fly in the mountains safely.

The P2 program is the heart and soul of Bozeman Paragliding. This is the course that sets the stage and mindset for each pilot for the rest of their flying career. P2 students have made a commitment of both time and money to become safe, competent pilots. They will learn not only how to perform certain tasks, but also how to think about paragliding and aviation in a constructive and sustainable way. Too often otherwise up-and-coming pilots end up scaring themselves out of the sport simply because they were thinking about the sport incorrectly.

In this course, students will learn about glider handling, glider aerodynamics, meteorology, launching, landing, in flight skills, mountain flying, ridge soaring, and many other pertinent details designed to keep you safe while having fun. Most of the flying is done at the training hill, and this is also where most of the ground handling (kiting) takes place. By repeating successful flights and learning from mistakes at a site with very few obstacles or “consequences,” students will refine their launching, landing, kiting and flying skills before leaving for the mountains and towing later in the course.

The P2 course generally lasts between 5 and 10 days. Some students will enjoy learning more slowly, while others will learn more quickly. There is no limit to the number of lessons each student takes to complete their certification. Training books are included, as well as the use of student equipment for the duration of lessons. There will be indoor classroom time during your lessons covering safety videos, written tests, reserve parachute protocol and theory discussions.

Discounts:

  • Bring A Friend: Receive $200 off per person if learning with one or more friends
  • New Gear: Your new gear purchase (glider, harness, reserve) will be discounted $400 off of retail pricing for paragliding or paramotoring gear.

Bozeman Paragliding has an "open door" policy, meaning anytime after you've attained your P2 license, you're welcome back to the training hill, the mountains, the tow truck - anywhere we happen to be, you're welcome to come back and join the flying and learning at no extra charge. Even your future P3 and P4 ratings are free. Speedflying or paramotoring lessons after P2? Free.

"Fine Print:" Course fees will be refunded if Bozeman Paragliding becomes unable to complete the lessons. Fees will not be refunded if the student becomes unable to complete the lessons.
